ViewMedica® VMcast Waiting Room FAQs

Below are some of the most frequently asked questions about our ViewMedica VMcast Waiting Room solution and the ordering process. If you still have a question not covered on this page, please contact us and we will be happy to respond.

Q: How do I get started?

A: If you already have ViewMedica content on your website or the ViewMedica Integrated Video service, simply log into your ViewMedica account. Enable the VMcast service from your account Dashboard by clicking on “Add/Remove Services” in your Account Settings. If you do not have a ViewMedica account, sign up for VMcast now.

Q: Do I have to have internet access to use VMcast?

A: Yes. VMcast requires an internet connection because it is a streaming service. This benefits you in a couple ways: The content is always up-to-date, and you can easily change your custom content on the fly. The VMcast video files are optimized to be easy on your internet connection. If you are worried about your bandwidth, the VMcast app has a solution. You can set your VMcast Loop to download all the ViewMedica content and slides. That way, you are only streaming whatever YouTube videos you have in your VMcast Loops. But an internet connection is still needed to make sure your content is up-to-date.

Q: Do VMcasts have advertisements?

A: No. VMcasts are ad-free. And more importantly, all content is either created by you, or selected by you.

Q: What equipment do I need?

A: There are many affordable equipment solutions that you can deploy to get your VMcast on your waiting room TV. All options use the free VMcast app. Some options include:

  • RECOMMENDED: Amazon’s Fire TV Stick.
  • A PC Stick Device or Mini PC
  • A netbook computer connected to the TV via HDMI or via ChromeCast.
  • Any computer that can connect to your TV via HDMI, AppleTV or ChromeCast.

Q: Can VMcast be used on multiple TVs?

A: Yes. We recommend you use an HDMI splitter to send the video signal to multiple TVs. Or, you can connect separate internet enabled devices to each TV. But you will need to purchase a separate Stream Code for each streaming device that will run simultaneously.

Q: Can I have multiple VMcast streams running at the same time?

A: Yes, but you will need to purchase a separate Stream Code for each streaming device that will run simultaneously.

Q: How many videos can fit in one VMcast Loop?

A: Your Loop’s length is unlimited. It is up to you how many ViewMedica videos and Custom Content items are used in your VMcast Loop.

Q: Can I customize the VMcast content?

A: Yes. Take advantage of our Custom Content feature and your VMcast Loops can do more for your facility. Add your own custom slides or videos that explain pre-operative or post-surgical instructions. Display HIPAA notices, your service hours, or promote your ancillary services and feature staff members. The possibilities are endless.

Q: Can I include my own videos in my VMcasts?

A: Yes. VMcast Loops can include videos from your YouTube account.

Q: Can I have more than one VMcast Loop?

A: Yes. Create as many Loops as you need, and you can select which Loops to run for your VMcast. For example, a practice that schedules a certain type of patients on Tuesdays can run a special VMcast Loop to show more patient-specific content.

Q: Can you produce my custom image slides?

A: Yes. Contact us to set up a consultation with one of our designers to plan out your custom design needs. Custom Produced slides cost each. Our design staff is well versed in what a medical practice needs in display content, and has access to a large collection of medical-related artwork that will make your image slides look professional. Most Custom Production orders can take anywhere from 3 - 5 days to complete. Depending on volume and if changes to proofs need to be made, additional time may be needed.
